Core Curriculum with STEM
STEM education removes the traditional barriers created between the four disciplines (English, Social Studies, Math and Science), by integrating them into one cohesive teaching and learning paradigm. It is an interdisciplinary approach to learning where rigorous academic concepts are coupled with real world lessons, thus providing opportunities to make sense of the world holistically, rather than in bits and pieces.
STEM MATHThe goal of STEM math is to explore the connections between the world around them and the world of mathematics. The STEM students will take the skills and understandings that they have already learned, discover new ways to apply these skills, and use them as building blocks to the next level of complexity and understanding. The STEM students will show their understanding by analyzing problems, gathering the necessary information, evaluating the best method for resolving the problem, and by implementing the solution successfully.
STEM English Language ArtsOur goals are to provide students with the opportunities to explore new learning, communicate ideas, and show comprehension of materials through responses and writing skills. STEM students will accomplish these goals by integrating themes from science and engineering in class discussions, comprehending nonfiction texts, and project presentations. Students will use various forms of technology and problem based learning to explore their world and contribute to their learning environment.

STEM ScienceIn science, our students will develop STEM practices through asking questions, collaborating, developing and using models, planning and carrying out investigations, analyzing and interpreting data, constructing explanations, engaging in argument from evidence, and communicating information. Students will integrate the content and skills of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics and be challenged to apply their knowledge and skills to respond to complex everyday problems and prepare them for the 21st Century workforce.
STEM Social StudiesThe goal of the STEM Social Studies department is to form an appreciation of history, geography, economics, government, and culture. This is done by integrating STEM disciplines to help students apply and understand the challenges faced by developing civilizations in aspects such as: housing, infrastructure, weaponry, communication, and transportation. Emphasis is placed on open-ended questions for exploration with products derived from problem solving and project based learning.
